President: Jessie Phua

Fifty-one-year-old Jessie Phua is president of the Singapore Bowling Federation and a Nominated Member of the Singapore Parliament. The first woman to be elected as FIQ president, in her candidature presentation she announced that her priority will be to unite the three zones, since bowling as become as divided as the angles of a triangle.

In the new president’s own words, “we have a jewel in our hands”, but the unity of bowling is crucial if it is to become an Olympic sport.

 
First Vice-president: Joan Ricart
Born 49 years ago in Barcelona into a family of sportsmen and women, Joan Ricart has presided the Catalan Skittles and Bowling Federation since 1985, joining the Board of the Union of Catalan Sports Federations (UFEC) in 2004. Ricart also represents Catalonia in the European Traditional Sports and Games Association.

The new vice-president’s plans include launching a linguistic study to produce a language map of bowling and to establish a committee on culture, ethics and education.

 
Second Vice-president: Gustavo López

The 45-year-old current president of Guatemala’s National Bowling Federation was recently re-elected as president of the Central American and Caribbean Bowling Confederation (CONCECABOL). With more than 20 years’ experience in the world of bowling, López is a USBC (United States Bowling Congress) bronze-level coach for his federation.

Within the FIQ, Gustavo López hopes to win support from the federations for a project to bring technical knowledge of bowling up-to-date.
